Initial idea's

I had discovered a book called Grid Index that contained a number of geometric grids. I knew I wanted to use them for a certain project and felt this was it. Before turning to a pre illustrated grid, I tried to develop my own using a series of lines that would act as a code representing the year each book was first published - this didn't really work.

At this stage I was unsure on how to incorporate type within the geometric grid. I drew up layouts that both imbedded the type within the grid and type on top of the grid within a white box.

I found that the best option was to use a grid upon which to build a typeface and embed it within the book cover.
